Frequently asked questions.
Most of what visitors ask comes up below. If you don't find what you're looking for, the team reads every email — contact us at the bottom of the page.
What is Signs and Wonders, and how did it start?
+What is Signs and Wonders?
Signs and Wonders is a Christian non-profit film studio that does two things: we produce cinematic documentary short films telling the real stories of people whose lives were transformed by Jesus Christ, and we place billboards across the United States proclaiming the words of Jesus, anchored by John 3:3. Founded in 1990. Headquartered near Pittsburgh. Films and billboards are both still going up.
+When was Signs and Wonders founded, and by whom?
Signs and Wonders was founded in 1990 by Ken Faulk, a former Mobil Oil employee whose own dramatic conversion during Hurricane Agnes in 1972 became the seed of the ministry. After his death in 2023, his son Joseph — the current Executive Director — picked up the torch and expanded the mission into documentary filmmaking.
You can watch Ken's founding testimony in its entirety on our films page.
+Is Signs and Wonders affiliated with a specific denomination?
No. Signs and Wonders is non-denominational. Our films feature subjects from a wide range of Christian backgrounds — Catholic, Pentecostal, Evangelical, Reformed — and our partner churches reflect that same diversity. What unites the work is the orthodox Christian gospel and a shared belief that the most powerful proof of God is a life transformed.
+How is Signs and Wonders structured legally?
Signs and Wonders is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Pennsylvania. Our EIN is 25-1641538. We are governed by a board of eight directors, including the founder's widow, his children, and outside creative and business leaders. You can meet the full board here.
How the documentary work happens.
+How do I share my testimony with you?
Visit our Share Your Story page and submit your testimony through the form. Our team reads every submission personally, usually within five business days. There is no automated reply.
If your story resonates with our mission, we will reach out for a short phone or video conversation. No commitment. No pressure. Just learning the fuller arc of what happened to you.
+Does submitting my story guarantee it will become a film?
No, and we make this clear in the consent step of the submission form. We produce a small number of films each year, and not every story is the right fit for the cinematic short format. What we promise is that every submission gets read, every person gets honored, and every story stays confidential unless you give explicit written consent for us to use it.
+If my story becomes a film, do I have editorial control?
Yes. You see every cut. You approve the final edit. We never publish anything you are not comfortable with. Your story remains yours — we are just the camera and the craft.
+Where can I watch the films?
Every film we have ever produced is available free on our Films page and on our YouTube channel. We also post short-form versions on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. No subscription required.
+What films are you working on next?
We are typically in production on two to three new films at any given time. To find out what's coming next — and to be notified the day each film releases — subscribe to our newsletter at the bottom of any page. You'll also get our free 7-day devotional, Born Again.
How the public-square evangelism works.
+How many billboards do you currently have up, and where?
We currently have 33 active billboards across the United States, generating more than 2 million monthly impressions. Active regions include Greater Pittsburgh (our flagship), Ohio, Idaho, and the U.S. Virgin Islands through partner congregations. We are actively expanding nationwide as part of our 2027 growth vision.
See our full Signs page for the current map and gallery.
+How do I sponsor a billboard?
Sponsorship is straightforward. You decide on an amount, a city, or even a specific message. We work with billboard companies in your target market to secure the placement, handle the design to our brand standards, and place the board. You receive a photo of the finished board on location, the address, and the approximate number of monthly impressions it will generate. Sponsorships are tax-deductible.
To start: sponsor a billboard here or email us directly at contact@signsandwondersfilms.com.
+How much does a billboard cost?
It depends on the market and the format. A standard 4-week rotation on a poster-format board in a smaller market may run $300–600. Highway-facing digital boards in major markets can run $1,500–3,000 per month. We handle the negotiation. You can sponsor any portion of any board — even a single day of exposure (approximately 67,000 impressions) is a meaningful gift.
+Why John 3:3 specifically?
The very first billboard the founder, Ken Faulk, ever saw as a child read "You must be born again to enter Heaven" — a paraphrase of Jesus's words in John 3:3. He didn't understand what it meant at the time. It took him most of his life to find out. When God directed him to start a billboard ministry decades later, John 3:3 became the anchor verse for the work. It still is.
How donations work, and where the money goes.
+Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Signs and Wonders is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 25-1641538), and all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by U.S. law. We send an annual giving statement to every donor in January for the previous tax year.
+How is Signs and Wonders funded?
The ministry is funded entirely through tax-deductible donations from individuals, churches, and partner organizations, along with proceeds from our store. Every gift directly supports film production, billboard placement, and the operations needed to keep both arms of the ministry running.
Our full 2027 budget is published transparently on our Donate page: $500K total raise, 36% personnel, 34% production, 27% marketing, 3% merch.
+What is the Sustainer Circle?
The Sustainer Circle is our recurring monthly giving program. Monthly partners are the backbone of the ministry — a predictable gift, no matter the size, lets us plan film production months in advance and keep billboards up year-round instead of season by season. Sustainers receive monthly behind-the-scenes updates, early access to every new film one week before public release, and an end-of-year impact report.
+What are the major giving tiers, and what do they include?
For major one-time gifts, we have three named tiers documented on our Donate page: Foundation Partner ($25,000–$49,999) with Associate Producer credit on films funded that year, exclusive donor Zoom calls, and early private film access. Executive Producer Circle ($50,000–$99,999) with Executive Producer credit on screen and IMDb, a private screening event for up to 25 guests, and priority access to future projects. Visionary Benefactor ($100,000–$250,000+) with Executive Producer credit on all films, a private dinner with the creative team, VIP screening status, and the opportunity to co-curate a documentary short with our team.
Email contact@signsandwondersfilms.com to discuss any major giving conversation.
+Can I give in other ways besides credit card?
Yes. We accept gifts via mailed check (Signs and Wonders, 2327 Brodhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001), donor-advised funds, stock transfers, and estate/legacy gifts. For any of these, email contact@signsandwondersfilms.com and we will send instructions.
Church partnerships and beyond.
+Can my church partner with Signs and Wonders?
Yes. We welcome church partnerships across denominations. Current partners include Hill City Church (Pittsburgh), Island Fellowship Church (USVI), St. Philip's (Moon Township), St. Stephen's (Sewickley), and Victory Family Church (Cranberry Township).
To inquire about partnership, visit our Church Partners page and fill out the inquiry form. We respond within a week.
+What does church partnership actually include?
Partnership is a relationship, not a transaction. The three primary things we do with partner congregations are: (1) Screening Nights — we bring films to your congregation with a Q&A from the production team; (2) Pastoral Counsel — your pastors help connect film subjects with ongoing care after filming wraps; (3) Local Billboard Support — partner churches get priority placement and co-sponsorship pathways at reduced cost.
+I run a faith-based brand or business. Can we collaborate?
We're open to brand collaborations that align with our mission and craft standards — particularly in apparel, publishing, podcasting, and event sponsorship. Reach out at contact@signsandwondersfilms.com with a brief about your work and what you're imagining.
